The Mícheál Ó Domhnaill Oregon Branch of Comhaltas is happy to announce our first campout for members, friends, and family at beautiful Vista Park in Skamokawa August 24-26, 2018.
Once known as Little Venice, Skamokawa–which means “Smoke on the Water” for the fog that comes into town down through three valleys before it stops to hang mystically over the Columbia—is a charming area little changed since the time Lewis and Clark passed this way over 200 years ago.
Arrive any time after 1:30 pm Friday, and check out by noon on Sunday. Comhaltas has reserved a block of sites which accommodate 6 campers (people) and 1 car per site, with extra cars $5 per site. These sites include picnic tables and firepits. Some sites can accommodate RV’s.
You are in the perfect spot to also take a break to go for a kayak ride, swim, or hike this gorgeous area. After sunset, linger on the beach to watch ships pass in the the night on their way to Astoria.
If you’d like to come, but don’t care to camp, the campground is adjoined by the Skamokawa Resort, a lovely option that many of us have enjoyed in the past. (This has a limited number of suites and rooms, so reserve early!)
Email Comhaltas at firstname.lastname@example.org using subject, Campout, to reserve your spot! It may be best to reserve early, as space is limited (though there is overflow camping in the campground field.)
Hope to see YOU there!
