Furthering the legacy of Irish culture in the City of Roses…
Fáilte chun Craoibhe Mhíchíl Uí Dhomhnaill! Welcome to the Mícheál Ó Domhnaill Branch of Oregon. Our branch was founded in an effort to keep Irish cultural practices alive and thriving in our beloved city as previous generations and cultural organizations have done before us. As our by-laws state, we seek to promote Irish traditional music in all its forms and provide educational opportunities to further it. We are particularly enthusiastic about the pairing of live music with set dancing, the learning and singing of traditional songs, and the cultivation of an Irish speaking community. Go raibh míle maith agat as teacht. And we look forward to seeing you at a community event soon!

MÓD sponsors and supports a wide variety of cultural programming within the Portland area. From set dancing and sessions to formal language classes and singing circles, MÓD is dedicated to bringing together people and traditions to weave a stronger Irish cultural community.
Cérbh é Mícheál?
In not so long-ago days, Portland was a bridge-riven, rainbow-clad land as green as The Emerald Isle, and in places like Mike Beglan’s East Avenue Tavern on East Burnside, Irish Music found a home. Mícheál Ó Domhnaill was among the first in the door, often beside master fiddlers Kevin Burke and Johnny Cunningham, eventually to be joined by Mícheál’s sister, Tríona.
We are a local branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, an international organization involved in the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music, song, and dance. With the support of hundreds of local, non-profit branches around the world, CCÉ has been working for the cause of Irish music since 1951. Our efforts continue with increasing zeal as the movement launches itself into the 21st century.
