The warm and inviting environs of Waverly UCC’s sanctuary is the inspiration behind the name of this concert series. Equally warm and inviting is its congregation who support numerous art and cultural organizations in their beautiful mid-century building. Portland is a vibrant and dynamic city with venues to support a wide-range of music genres. Irish traditional music is the music of the hearth but its popularity can overwhelm smaller spaces. This is why the Chapel Sessions Concert Series was established in this space. Not too big, not too small, but just right to house a larger audience while maintaining the intimacy demanded by this music. The Chapel Sessions Concert Series seeks to showcase solo and small ensembles of musicians of exceptional skill with opportunities to extend the audience’s access to these musicians through workshop opportunities and as musical guests for our community céilithe (dances).
